I’m not sure that what Tom had in mind was a face to face discussion with each and every interested party.

I’m sorry no one from Britannica was available to speak to you in Frankfurt. As you’ve seen here I’m more than happy to engage you in a public discussion of the issues. If you have thoughts on the matter, I’d encourage you to blog them.

I was referring to the difference between “What would be beneficial now would be [..] a frank and honest discussion of the virtues and shortcomings of every type of information source” in comparison to your email from September 20 and my subsequent reply and the following disappointment.

I’m not sure what the first part of your comment and the second have to do with one another. I think Tom was in Chicago at the time. Who did you talk to in Frankfurt? What did you ask them?

I found Tom’s answer quite interesting. When I was at the EBI booth at the Frankfurt Book Fair, all I got was “sure, we could sit around for a while but I really don’t think that we have something to talk about”.

It was a little bit disappointing after your offer some weeks ago.
